This is the last section I want to post in ("Injuries"), but I'm glad to see that Andrew started a local forum, and plan to be on the pickleball court very soon after a full year of down time. Maybe my cautionary tale will prevent someone else from taking a year off:
I didn't think I could live without pickleball, so much so that last winter (around March 1, 2018), rather than take a Thursday night off from lighted-court play at Skypark in Scotts Valley during a heavy rain, I substituted with an evening of racquetball at the UCSC courts. The racquets are heavier, as I recalled from decades-ago college games, and I overplayed, with my young intern at work who is half my age, winning some battles but losing the war! I've had loads of regular treatments, including ultra-sound, physical therapy, laser therapy, acupuncture, cupping, and more. The healing process can be slow, and if you do massive amounts of computer work (requiring many two-handed processes beyond simple typing that can be solved by dictation) like I do, it prevents healing.
Be careful!
Tendonitis
Knee replacement to tennis elbow to sprained ankles.
